We decided to start this initiative because much like to rest of the world, Australia is no exception to the increasing number of children who are overweight or obese. There has been an increase in the number of overweight children by 5% since 1995 – 2007 and it is expected to rise further come the next national health survey. With the majority of overweight kids seeing exercise as a laborious task we try to introduce fun and excitement into the work out with limited focus on the results and more emphasis on getting the kids to enjoy exercise. Another common factor is that a lot of overweight or obese children have problems with self-confidence and are almost embarrassed when they go into a gym or fitness center, we look to counter this problem by creating a welcoming environment either on a one to one basis or creating small groups/sessions which include kids with the same body shape.

Kids FitnessDoing fitness programs for kids is not all about getting children into shape but it can be a great way of raising self-confidence and an avenue to gaining new friends in a team atmosphere at the same time. We provide great games that will help children work together but also develop vital leadership skills. This can be achieved by attending some of our evening after-school programs where we don’t just target the regular sports such as soccer, footy and cricket but innovative exercises to improve co-ordination, strong muscles and to promote a healthy development through their early and teenage years. We also look at providing longer packages for the holiday periods, as it is always tough for parents when summer holidays come around. It can be a stressful time thinking how you can fill your child’s day but we do great holiday camps with the option for early drop off and late pick up so it works around your busy schedule. These camps again promote self-confidence and great, long lasting friendships are always a plus.
